Europe gives away new round of free travel for young people
Europe is giving away a new round of free travel for young people. Candidates born in 2004 can apply next month. The 35,000 young people who are drawn will have the opportunity to explore the continent by train or other sustainable transport for a maximum of one month.
"For the second time this year, DiscoverEU enables young people to discover new cultures and forge new bonds of friendship. Cultural exchange can never be more relevant than today," said EU Youth Commissioner Mariya Gabriel. She is already giving away a second round this year because 2022 has been declared the European Youth Year. Next March there will be a new round for those who turn 18 in the first half of 2023.
Those who want to compete for a free travel pass (plus discount card for meals, accommodation, culture, sports and other services in the countries to be visited) can register on the European Youth Portal, also for the quiz that is part of the selection procedure. Registration opens Tuesday, October 11 at 12 p.m. and closes Oct. 25 at 12 p.m.
